News

After very nearly 10 years with the Group we said a fond farewell to our GSL, Graham Corser on 18th January.  Graham was 'volunteered' by his wife Maura at the AGM in July 2003 when the Group was looking for Scout leaders. Graham took on the role of ASL until 2006 and after a break of but a month or two Graham re-invented himself as Group Scout Leader and was at the helm until December 2012. Graham did a fantastic job, driving the Group forward, suggesting and managing improvements to the hall, persuading, cajoling and coercing parents to come on board as leaders, organising Group camps to mention but a few things. Maura also has been a huge support to the Group, beavering away in the background and always willing to lend a hand. As a token of appreciation for all they have done, Graham was presented with a caricature and Maura with a bouquet of flowers by the parents and leaders. We will miss you both.........and there will always be a job here if you change your mind!

Please support our latest fundraiser!  We are recycling all old and unwanted clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, hats, curtains, towels and bedding in exchange for cash for the Group.  We will be handing out recycling bags in the New Year at all the Section meetings and would be grateful if you would take some time to clear out your drawers and wardrobes of all unwanted items.  We will be accepting the filled bags week commencing 23rd January for collection by the recycling company on Friday 27th January.  Please take this great opportunity to have that clear out you have been meaning to do for ages!

Update: Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to bring the bags in.  We collected about 60 bags in total and raised a fantastic £152.50.

14th November 2011

We held a fantastic family camp at Polyapes Campsite on 11/12th June which was attended by 96 mums, dads, children and leaders. The weather wasn't kind all of the time but everyone had great fun anyway.  There was a real sense of cameraderie, with everyone rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in.  Our AGM on the Sunday proved a bit of a challenge - it was so wild that we had as many as possible holding onto the frame of the marquee to stop it taking off in the wind!

A huge thank you must go to all the organisers and to everyone who came along and joined in.
